Hollywood Stars and Top Designers Contribute Handbags for Lupus LA

 

Sharon Stone, Gwyneth Paltrow, Courtney Cox, Katy Perry, Carrie Ann Inaba, Padma Lakshmi, Sherri Shepherd and the Kardashians opened their closets to contribute their handbags for this year’s Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The annual event features a silent auction of celebrity, vintage and top designer handbags to benefit Lupus LA.

Janice Arouh, Dorothy Ellis and Janet Janjigian co-chaired the luncheon, which honored Christine Devine, the 16-time Emmy Award-winning news anchor, and Carolyn Folks, executive producer of Entertainment Studios. Byron Allen, Folks’ son and the company’s chief executive, came as a special guest. 

The Nov. 4 Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel also featured a runway show of spring fashions from Neiman Marcus and grossed nearly $250,000 for research to help find a cure for this chronic autoimmune disease, which primarily affects women. Nearly 400 women attended. 

The committee consisted of Noah Alexander, Peri Ellen Berne, Carrie Brillstein, Kathy Gallagher, Michelle Kaye, La-Doris McClaney, Jackie Oreckinto, Renee Rinaldi, Ana Schoenberg, Adam Selkowitz, Laurie Selkowitz, Julie Tesser, Janice Wallace and Cathy Winterstern. Larry Zakian served as emcee.

Adam Selkowitz chairs the Lupus LA Executive Council with members including Debbi and Roger Cowan, Michelle and Alan Kaye,  Janice and Daniel Wallace, Dorothy Ellis, Kathy Gallagher, Shante Broadus, Janet Janjigian and Kate Kelly. Matt Durkan is executive director.

Handbag designers donating their wares were Michael Kors, Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Norton, Judith Leiber, Chopard, Anya Hindmarch, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Etro, Burberry, Marni, Donna Karan, Ermenegildo Zegna, Etro, Brooks Brothers, Francesco Santoro and Kate Spade.
