TV’s “Big Bang Theory” Cast, Glen Campbell Slated Honored at “A Night at Sardi’s”

At a “A Night at Sardi’s,” Mar. 26 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the multi-talented cast of “The Big Bang Theory” received the Abe Burrows Entertainment Award.

To read my story in the “All the Rage” section of the Los Angeles Times, click here.

The honor came because all of them – Mayim Bialik, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Jim Parsons, Melissa Rauch and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting – have been avid supporters of this annual fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, flamboyantly suiting up in recent years to sing excerpts from “The Rocky Horror Show,” “Hair” and other fun productions.

Also honored were the legendary country music star Glen Campbell and his family for their dedication to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. The Campbell family will be the inaugural recipients of the Glen Campbell Courage Award.

“A Night at Sardi’s” features stage, screen and television stars – not all of them known for their singing talents – belting out tunes from “Funny Girl,” “Gypsy,” “Once,” “Matilda” and other award-winning shows, and joining in a special musical tribute to Glen Campbell with Jimmy Webb.

Performers or participants on the schedule were Annaleigh Ashford, Shoshana Bean, Beth Behrs, Beau Bridges, Lizzy Caplan, Briana Cuoco, Christine Ebersole, Barrett Foa, Josh Gad, Sam Harris, Ken Howard, Jonathan Kite, Vicki Lewis, Taryn Manning, Joey McIntyre, Robert Morse, Bob Newhart, Scott Porter, Grace Potter, Sarah Rafferty, Andrew Rannells, John Stamos and Steven Weber.

Co–chaired by Laurie Burrows Grad and Peter Grad for the past 22 years, the gala has raised more than $23 million for the Alzheimer’s Association over the years. Laurie Burrows Grad is the daughter of Tony Award-winning playwright Abe Burrows.
