Anti-Defamation League Honors Roma Downey and Mark Burnett

The Anti‐Defamation League honored Roma Downey and Mark Burnett at its May 8 Entertainment Industry Awards Dinner.

To read my story about the event in the “All the Rage” section of the Los Angeles Times, click here.

Well-known for playing an angel in the TV series, “Touched by an Angel,” Downey is an Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actress; producer of the children’s DVD “Little Angels;” and author of the book series, “Little Angels” and the “Little Angels Storybook Bible.”

Burnett is the producer of some of the country’s top reality shows, including “Survivor,” “The Voice” “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Shark Tank,” in addition to producing the “MTV Movie Awards,” “Video Game Awards,” “Primetime Emmy Awards” and “People’s Choice Awards.”

Together the couple produced “The Bible” mini-series, which became 2013’s number one cable show, as well as one of this year’s most popular movies, “Son of God.”

Still to come in 2015 is a miniseries, based on the book, “The Dovekeepers.”

On a personal note, this extraordinarily charming and powerful couple has endeavored to bring communities of different faiths together and encouraged understanding across all religions. We applaud them both for their commitment to goals shared by the Anti-Defamation League, which has long been dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism, bigotry and hatred of all kinds.
