Here’s an album of photos from the Apr. 18 ASCAP Pop Music Awards 2012. (To read about the awards ceremony and earlier poolside buffet, click here.)
Shown are award winners Carly Simon, Max Martin, Peter Frampton, Trent Reznor, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Dan Wilson and others; plus ASCAP officials, more songwriters and VIP guests.
Pictures also include record producer Richard Perry with Jane Fonda; participants in ceremonies Bill Withers, Natalie Maines and emcee Paul Williams, who started the evening by acknowledging the death of pop icon Dick Clark.
“He was an amazing man; he was as sweet and as kind as he was productive,” said Williams, recalling the legendary host of TV’s “American Bandstand,” and the influence he and Don Cornelius of “Soul Train” had on teenagers in the U.S. ”(Clark) has been a huge part of all of our lives. As people who make music for a living, I think we all owe him a huge round of applause.”

I am proud of my cousin Dan Omelio whose father Peter is also a good musician. The talent runs through the families and hopefully will continue far into the future when we “old timers” are gone.
Cuz,
I’m thrilled for Peter Frampton; Donna. Mary would have been so proud of her grandson too. She’s in my thoughts every day. Our band is no where near on the level musically that Dan is involved in, but you should come down to Belmar to see us play this summer.
