Environmental Media Awards
As the song says, it’s not be easy being green. Even so, some of our most prominent A-listers are helping to preserve our planet’s health through their attention to the environment.
In acknowledgement, the Environmental Media Association paid tribute to Matt Damon, Hayden Panettiere, Bill McKibben and Anna Getty at the Oct. 19 Environmental Media Awards Gala.
High profile celebrities filled Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles for the affair, whether there to present awards, or to show their support by showing up. Darren Criss of “GLEE” capped off ceremonies with his performance.
Presented by Toyota and Lexus, the association recognized the feature film, “Promised Land,” the documentary “Gasland Part II,” Netflix TV’s “House of Cards,” ABC’s “Last Man Standing,” Reality TV’s “VICE,” Nick News with Linda Ellerbee and “Overview” by Planetary Collective.
More guests and presenters were Malin Akerman of “CBGB,” Lance Bass of “Hell & Back,” Ed Begley Jr. of “Family Tree,” Julie Bowen of “Modern Family,” Mehcad Brooks of “Necessary Roughness,” director Justin Chadwick of “Mandela,” Emmanuelle Chriqui of “The Mentalist,” Francesca Eastwood of “Mrs. Eastwood & Company,” and Francesca’s mom, Frances Fisher of “Push.”
Also among others were Daryl Hannah of “Hawaii Five-0,” Josh Henderson of “Dallas,” Wendie Malick of “Hot in Cleveland,” Dawn Olivieri of “House of Lies,” Carter Oosterhouse of “HGTV,” Christian Serratos of “The Walking Dead,” Jamie-Lynn Sigler of “Guys with Kids,” Amy Smart of “7500,” Darby Stanchfield of “Scandal,” Marisa Tomei of “Why Now?,” Wilmer Valderrama of “School Dance,” James Van Der Beek of “Labor Day,” Bradley Whitford of “Trophy Wife,” and Constance Zimmer of “The News Room.”
Taking the green theme seriously, places were set with compostable dinnerware and reusable glassware. Dinner consisted of local, seasonal and organic food, with leftovers earmarked for the homeless through the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition.
