Giorgio Armani Prive Spring Summer 2013

Giorgio Armani Prive Attracts Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman, Isabelle Huppert & More

In recent years, Giorgio Armani has dressed Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and multiple other A-listers for the Oscars and virtually all the other major awards ceremonies.

So when Jodie Foster accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globes, her message may not have been clear, but her fashion choice was easily to see. For two decades, Giorgio Armani has been Foster’s label of choice.

At this year’s Golden Globes alone, Foster, Olivia Munn, Francesca Eastwood and Stacy Keibler all wore Giorgio Armani gowns. Men choosing the label that same night included George Clooney, Robert Downey, Jr., Richard Gere, Jim Parsons and Ty Burrell.

Given the vast number of celebrated admirers, it was hardly surprising to see familiar faces crowding the front row for the Giorgio Armani Prive spring summer 2013 show. There Jan. 22 at the Theatre National de Chaillot were Hilary Swank, Uma Thurman, Isabelle Huppert, Livia Firth, legendary Italian movie star Claudia Cardinale, and models Tallulah Harlech, Mary Charteris and Amber Le Bon.

During the waiting time before the show, I spoke with some of the stars, as readers will see in my story for the “All the Rage” section of the Los Angeles Times.

I talked, too, with Glenda Bailey, the esteemed editor of Harper’s Bazaar, about the green theme pervading some of this year’s shows. (More about this in a future post.)

We chatted, too, about one of the magazine’s Los Angeles contributors, Rita Wilson, aka Mrs. Tom Hanks. In addition to her writing, Wilson recently recorded the album, “AM/FM,” consisting of 60s and 70s hits.

“I have all the editions,” Bailey said, counting a vinyl recording of AM/FM among her possessions.

In a short time, the show began, as Giorgio Armani presented some exceptional looks, as readers can see from the photo gallery below.

Following the show, all moved on to the avenue Montaigne, where a celebration was in order for the new Giorgio Armani boutique in Paris.
