Golden Globes After Parties
The Weinstein Company/Netflix and Warner Bros./InStyle Affairs
No matter which stars snared Golden Globes at the Jan. 12 awards ceremony, virtually everyone at the Beverly Hilton Hotel was ready to party the moment the telecast ended. Fortunately, guests didn’t have far to go, as the show, viewing parties and nearly all the after-Globes affairs took place in and around the same hotel.
* The Weinstein Company’s After-Party, tossed in conjunction with Netflix, attracted some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Leonardo DiCaprio brought along his best actor award; Robin Wright celebrated her win by dancing the night away with new fiancé Ben Foster. Wright, who won for “House of Cards,” professed to be in shock and promised that the show’s season two would be even better than season one.
Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson and CAA’s Kevin Huvane shared a booth; Kristin Chenoweth swept in with Dana Bucatti; and Bono greeted Harvey Weinstein and then headed for the balcony.
Whether dancing to the driving beat, or mingling amid friends, the jubilant crowd sipped champagne, drank Fiji Water and sampled hors d’oeuvres. Aside from Fiji Water, sponsors also included Marie Claire, Bombardier, Lexus, Laura Mercier and Yucaipa Films.
More stars stopping by included Taylor Swift, Kevin Spacey, Corey Stoll, Bradley Cooper, Lupita Nyong‘o, Heidi Klum, Les Moonves, Julie Chen, Naomi Watts, Cheryl Burke, Steve Coogan, Shannon Elizabeth, Liev Schreiber, Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons, Usher, Sean Combs, John Leguizamo, Constance Zimmer, Julie Delpy, Kerry Washington, Piers Morgan, Dermot Mulroney, Hailee Steinfeld, Jaime King, Oscar Isaac, Kyle MacLachlan, Julia Roberts, Sarah Hyland, Aaron Paul, Pax Vega, Rick Fox, Bruce Dern, Laura Dern, Idris Elba, Paz Vega and Usher.
* The Warner Bros. and InStyle After-Party got so popular so quickly that before long, the ticket-holders line stretched far into the lobby – and the Beverly Hilton Hotel has a very big lobby. Giving due respect to the fire codes, some people had to exit before anyone new could enter.
Once inside the tent around the hotel’s majestic fountain, guests feasted at Godiva’s chocolate lounge offering truffle displays, chocolate hearts and sculptures inspired by romantic TV and movie scenes.
Among others at the bash: Amy Adams, Ben Affleck, Kate Mara, Crystal Reed, Elisabeth Moss, Uma Thurman, Olivia Wilde, Vanessa Hudgens, Lizzy Caplan, Bryce Dallas Howard, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Mayim Bialik, Kaley Cuoco, Chris Pine, Nolan Gould, Malin Akerman, Francesca Eastwood, Jared Leto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anna Gunn, Cat Deeley and Topher Grace.
More were Aziz Ansari, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Sarah Hyland, Heidi Klum, Kate Beckinsale, Orlando Bloom, Julianna Margulies, Diego Boneta, Alfonso Cuaron, Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, Taye Diggs, Nina Dobrev, Michelle Dockery, Idris Elba, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Josh Gad, Julianne Hough, Katie Lowes, Kerry Washington, Michelle Monaghan, Dan Bucatinsky and Emma Watson.
* With HBO, NBC Universal and others staging big bashes, too, so much party-hopping transpired that stars were just as easy to spot en route to the parties as inside them. We caught up with Hayden Panettiere en route to the InStyle soiree where she kindly complimented my husband on his blue eyes.
