The Wonderful Outstanding Women of JBBBSLA – WOW!


As a rock band played an upbeat welcome to the Sept. 27 Big Dreams luncheon for Jewish Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Los Angeles, guests settled into the ballroom at the Beverly Hills Hotel to honor Susan Rothenberg as this year’s Wonderful Outstanding Woman. Also known as the JBBBSLA WOW award, Rothenberg was named as a recipient for her generosity and for her work with  the youth of Los Angeles.

The Big Dreams luncheon also honored Lisa Stevens with the Community Impact Award and Tessa Kaganoff with the Big Sister of the Year Award. Stevens is an executive VP at Wells Fargo.

With Kaj Goldberg as a special guest, Susan Greenberg Kunik served as event chair with the committee including previous WOW recipients Leslie Kavanaugh and Julie Spira, plus Laura Alpert, Lisa Cassel, Michele Cohen, Marie and Ed Feiman, Amy and Shane Feiman, Annie Gad, Linda Goldstein, Jerrie Heslov, Barbara Marcus, Susan Paillassou, Heidi Praw, Ricki Ring, Linda Rosenson, Gail Silver, Irene Smith, DeeDee Sussman.

JBBSLA mentors children, most of them coming from single-parent homes; provides scholarships; and operates Camp Max Straus, a non-denominational 122-acre camp in Glendale, CA for under-served youngsters.
