Jessica Alba and Swarovski Elements Light Rodeo Drive With a Tweet

Sparkling Lights and holiday glamour enlivened the City of Beverly Hills as Jessica Alba and Swarovski Elements hosted the Nov. 21 Rodeo Drive Lighting Ceremony.  Looking fabulous in white brocade and the Swarovski Crystallized Winter Garden Necklace, Alba was accompanied by Jennifer Hudson, stunning in a season-right red sheath under her white coat, to introduce the holiday message, “Let it Sparkle!”

Alba took the stage to thank Swarovski for their generous support of Baby2Baby, before tweeting the first #letitsparkle message, which caused the DNA Helix shaped sculpture on Rodeo Drive to come alive with 41,775 crystals and intertwining lights of color. The sculpture, said Reinhard Mackinger, Vice President of Swarovski, America, “symbolizes communication, interactivity, and how we connect to one another in today’s International environment.”

“Happy Holidays from my family to yours! Hope you all have a festive season filled w/ joy and cheer! #letitsparkle” tweeted @JessicaAlba. Now anyone in the world can tweet a message that will appear on the sculpture by using the hashtag #letitsparkle. In the US, people may also send a message via SMS, by texting the word “sparkle” with a greeting to 877977.

Joining in the celebration were Alba’s husband, film producer Cash Warren, plus Alexandra Richards and Wolfgang Puck, together with 150 other visitors, Beverly Hills residents and supporters of Baby2Baby, which provides essential baby items to families in need in the Los Angeles area. Alba serves on the charity’s board.

The after party, which followed the sculpture-lighting, gave the crystal theme a new twist on the traditional Christmas decorations. The Beverly Wilshire bar glittered like ice as DJ Alexandra Richards kept the crowd hopping and fushia-haired jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino mingled with Beverly Hills Mayor Barry Brucker and other dignitaries. What a celebration to the begin the holiday festivities.
