Kiehls Desert Run for amfAR BBQ

Kiehl’s Desert Run for amfAR Ends in a Barbeque with Eric Stonestreet, Stephanie Pratt and Others

Guests in black leather jackets. Meat on the menu. Music blasting into the streets. That’s what awaited the parade of motorcycle riders at Kiehl’s in Santa Monica, following their “Desert Run for amfAR,” which raised $25,000 for the American Foundation for AIDS research. Eric Stonestreet of “Modern Family,” George Kotsiopoulos of “The Fashion Police,” Christa B. Allen of “Revenge,” Stephanie Pratt of “The Hills,” Pia Toscano of “American Idol,” and another 100 guests turned up to greet the riders. Among others pulling up curbside for the Apr. 2 barbeque were Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo and event co-hosts amfAR chief executive Kevin Frost, photographer Timothy White, custom motorcycle builder Paul Cox and actor Grant Reynolds of “Knifepoint.”

Such a party called for casual wear because of the “chill” westside locale in addition to the motorcycle theme, said stylist and fashion authority Kotsiopoulos. And while black leather dominated the room, with a few tattoos tossed in the mix, Pratt and Allen were stand-outs in their crisp, white, floor-length dresses. (Sometimes it pays to buck the trend.)

“I dressed for a barbeque,” said Allen. “I’m in my spring best.”

Bikers rode from Las Vegas to Palm Springs to Dana Point to Santa Monica, raising funds through sales of the “Limited Edition Desert Run Travel Essentials Kit” of the company’s popular skin, hair and body products in travel sizes, with all profits going to the cause.

“A lot of people forget about AIDs,” said Reynolds, after joining his wife Jillian Barberie Reynolds of FOX 11’s “Good Day L.A.” “With people focusing on the campaign and the budget, AIDS gets pushed to the back of the pile. But AIDS hasn’t gone away.”

For the occasion, deejay Paul Sevigny blasted out what he called “a motorcycle mix” of Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more. All the while, guests enjoyed a buffet of barbequed ribs and chicken wings, as servers passed hefty hors d’oeuvres of sausage and meatball.

Also in the crowd: Wes Siler, publisher of “Hell for Leather” magazine and actors Josh Manning of “The Kindness of Strangers,” Naturi Naughton of the new TV series, “The Client List,” Jason Kennedy of “E! News,” Kate del Castillo of “La Misma Luna,” Jen Lilley of “General Hospital,” Cooper Harris of “Squatters,” Miguel Ferrer of “Crossing Jordan,” Rafi Ferrer and Laura Bradley.

Check back over the next few days to see more photographs from the event.
