Los Angeles Ballet Giselle
In the classic ballet “Giselle,” masterfully staged all through May by the Los Angeles Ballet, Giselle’s prince indeed does come, but after they fall in love, she discovers he is betrothed to another. So – distraught
after he abandons her – she goes mad and dies. Not the cheeriest ballet, but one of the world’s most beautiful.
The stunning dancers in white, seen in Ryan Miller’s spectacular photos for Capture Imaging, (courtesy of the Los Angeles Ballet,) depict the “Wilis.” Appearing in Act II, they are the ghosts of jilted brides, who died before their wedding days and take revenge on the men who betrayed them, (which just goes to show that the undead attracted audiences long before the “Twilight” series.)
Below, I’ve listed the cast members of the Los Angeles Ballet Giselle who appeared the night of the May 28 Gala, when these pictures were taken. Very few dancers are named in the captions, but if any of you readers can identify them, I welcome your input.
