PS Arts Bag Lunch

Sophia Bush, Sharon Stone, Emmy Rossum, Kristin Davis and Others Shop for a Good Cause at PS Arts Bag Lunch

The PS Arts Bag Lunch had more than enough ingredients for great success: a fun, casual paper bag lunch, with – in this case – bags courtesy of Dior; the important cause of PS Arts, devoted to restoring arts education to the public schools;  and more than 200 designer handbags for sale at a silent auction.

Sophia Bush of “One Tree Hill” checked out the bags in the front yard of Heather Thomas Brittenham’s stunning Santa Monica home, as Sharon Stone picked out an orange purse on the back patio.

Kristin Davis of “Sex and the City” said she planned to look around for awhile, but expected to get at least one handbag.

Calista Flockhart took time to peruse the displays and then said she had to race off to her son’s soccer game.

“I have my eye on a Brooks Brothers clutch,” said Emmy Rossum of “Shameless.”

To make the handbags yet more enticing, each was stuffed with Dior beauty products; and although lunch came in paper bags, there was Moet & Chandon champagne to accompany the sandwiches and salads.

Hosts were Elizabeth Stewart and George Kotsiopoulos with Heather Thomas Brittenham and Joy Bryant, Glynis Costin, Kristin Davis, Cristina Erlich, January Jones, Arianne Phillips, Jen Rade, Reese Witherspoon and Dianne Vavra of Dior Beauty. Committee members were Maria Arena Bell, Pam Bergman, Kristen Buckingham, Susan Campos, Jill Chayet, Quinn Ezralow, Ali Froley, Marilyn Heston, Kelly Fisher Katz, Susie Krevoy, Allison Oleskey, Carolyn Powers, Tawny Sanders, Carla Sands, Julia Sorkin and Christine Weller.

This by invitation only event is so popular that tickets go fast and for me, it’s an especially terrific shopping venue, as I’m always searching for good-looking handbags that are pretty, yet big enough to fit – in addition to the usual credit cards, driver’s license and lipstick – a tape recorder, camera, pen and pad.  And this year, I’m happy to say I found two perfect evening bags.
