The Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Collection Celebration
Elizabeth Banks, Malin Akerman, Abbie Cornish, Milla Jovovich and Others Join Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Collection Celebration
A star-studded host committee joined Restoration Hardware in celebrating EXPOSED: the company’s spring collection of unique and imaginative home furnishings at its Los Angeles store, The Gallery. Elizabeth Banks, Malin Akerman, Abbie Cornish, Milla Jovovich and others participated in the Mar. 22 event, which benefited The Prints and Drawing Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. With her sleek blonde hairdo and chic Andrew Gn cocktail frock, Banks couldn’t have looked less like her character, “Effie Trinket,” in “The Hunger Games,” which opens today in theaters throughout the country. For one thing, her film persona’s hair poufs out in peppermint-pink waves when she’s first introduced.*
Yet she said she’s already seen the film’s unique hair colors beginning to catch on. “My hairdresser has light blue hair now and I’ve been seeing people in pink and blue,” she said. Still, she said she wouldn’t be switching to candy-colored hair herself any time soon. “I’m too old for that,” she said.
Abbie Cornish of “W.E” – accompanied by her sister Isabelle Cornish and mother Shelley Cornish – paid special attention to the unique and imaginative merchandise in the 16,000 square foot 2-story store. Having recently moved to Los Angeles, she said she had a new house to furnish.
Malin Akerman said she was flattered when asked to be a co-chair. “I’ve already been in the store three times in the past two months,” she said. “I’ve made it my second home.”
Akerman, of “Rock of Ages,” said she’s been so busy this past year that she appreciates the opportunity to slow down the pace, have a social life, relax and enjoy a cup of tea when she visits the store. Her next project: a pilot for “The Smart One” with Portia de Rossi, David Arquette and Jean Smart, produced by Ellen DeGeneres.
As clocks in the store’s “library” told the time in London, Argentina, Los Angeles and other cities, chairman and co-CEO Gary Friedman and co-CEO Carlos Alberini welcomed guests, as they wandered amid the contemporary chandeliers, sampled hors d’oeuvres and watched The Pierces perform in the tree-lined courtyard.
The host committee also included Carol Ann and Rick Hess, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Jeffrey Alan Marks, Melissa Richardson Akkaway, Lawren Howell, Katherine Power, Kathryn Ireland, Schuyler Samperton, Michael Smith, Peter Dunham, Hillary Kerr, Estee Stanley, Petra Flannery, Anita Ko, and Hillary Thomas.
